Bill Carlson was born in Chicago, IL. He is the son of a Printing Executive, and was raised in the western suburbs of Chicago. He started work early, having newspaper routes and working in a men's clothing store, as well as helping out in the family printing business while in High School. After winning the US Navy scholarship to college, Bill attended the University of Illinois business school and graduated with a BS in business with concentrations in marketing, accounting and finance.

Bill served three years of active duty with the Navy, serving as an officer on a destroyer escort. The ship deployed twice to the far east. Before his release from active duty, he was the senior watch officer, a department head, and qualified to be Executive Officer (second in command) of a destroyer type ship. He reached the rank of Lieutenant.

After his separation from active duty with the Navy, Bill returned to Illinois to rejoin the family printing business, helping to build the company to a multi-million dollar operation.

After over 30 years in the printing business, Bill looked for new horizons. He became an independent insurance and financial advisor, helping both younger people and seniors. As he served seniors, Bill noticed that too many had failed to adequately plan their finances. He became frustrated with the feeling that he was seeing these people too late. Many were house rich and cash poor. He felt there had to be a better way.

After a lot of research and study, Bill discovered the common sense approach of programs like Equity Max. After attending several meetings with different organizations, Bill had a chance meeting with a group of people from Asset Protectors. After attending their "Equity Max School", he realized that this was the best program to help people plan for their retirement without having to scrimp and do without. He is passionate about helping people to maximize the earning power of their money, without the unnecessary risks.

Bill and his lovely wife Gloria live in Plainfield. They are busy enjoying their children and grandchildren. They are both active in their church, Gloria being a Deacon and chair of the program that provides meals and services for those that need it. Bill is financial secretary, an usher and occasionally sings in the choir. Bill is also treasurer of his homeowner's association. Bill enjoys golf, outdoor activities swimming and singing in a men's glee club.
